Permanent Mold Casting

PIAD focuses on manufacturing molds made of elemental metals rather than sand. This provides customers opportunities to increase performance and reduce cycle times. Among other characteristics, our materials and method produce refined grain structure, excellent heat and electric conductivity, superior castability and more.

Casting Conversions

Now a pivotal piece of our business strategy, casting conversion refers to utilizing PIAD's Chill Cast Process to reduce or eliminate secondary manufacturing operations. By doing this, PIAD can significantly impact your supply chain by reducing lead times and saving costs. To accomplish this, PIAD produces castings comprised of copper, copper-based and other elemental-metal composites to achieve near-net shape.

Industries PIAD serves: electrical, machining, marine, hydraulics, automotive, defense, power, and rail.

Markets & Applications

Industries
We Serve

At PIAD, our permanent mold casting in copper, aluminum, tin, and bronze alloys outperforms sand-cast and alternative methods across every market we serve. Hover a card to see why.

Electrical

Copper & Bronze Alloys

  • Low porosity keeps conductivity consistent — no voids to cause hot spots or arcing
  • Copper alloys deliver top-tier conductivity vs. cast substitutes
  • Smooth as-cast finish cuts contact resistance at terminals and connectors

Electrical
Power & Signal

Machining

Aluminum & Bronze Alloys

  • Finer grain structure from faster mold cooling means less stock to remove
  • Tighter as-cast tolerances than sand blanks, cutting cycle time
  • Denser surface reduces tool wear during finish machining

Precision Parts

Marine

Bronze & Copper-Nickel

  • Bronze & copper-nickel resist saltwater corrosion far better than ferrous castings
  • Low porosity avoids the pitting sites that plague sand-cast parts in seawater
  • Tin bronze adds natural antifouling properties for hulls and fittings
03
Marine
Naval & Offshore

Hydraulics

Tin Bronze & Aluminum

  • Tin bronze is self-lubricating — ideal for bushings, valve bodies, wear rings
  • Pressure-tight, low-porosity castings prevent seepage sand casting is prone to
  • Fine grain structure resists wear under repeated cyclic loading
04
Hydraulics
Fluid Systems

Automotive

Aluminum & Bronze Alloys

  • Aluminum's strength-to-weight ratio trims part weight and boosts fuel economy
  • Repeatable dimensional accuracy suits high-volume OEM production runs
  • Smoother as-cast surface reduces secondary finishing vs. sand-cast parts
05
Automotive
OEM & Aftermarket

Defense

Aluminum & Bronze Alloys

  • Directional solidification gives higher strength & fatigue resistance than sand casting's coarser grain
  • Consistent mechanical properties needed to meet mil-spec repeatability
  • Corrosion-resistant alloys hold up in extreme field conditions

Defense
Mil-Spec & Aerospace

Power

Copper Alloys

  • Copper's conductivity is critical for bus bars & grid connectors
  • Dense, void-free castings prevent the arcing that porosity invites
  • Withstands thermal cycling from generation and switching loads

Power
Generation & Grid

Rail

Bronze & Aluminum

  • Bronze bearings & bushings handle heavy cyclic loads with low wear
  • Finer as-cast grain improves fatigue life over coarser sand-cast parts
  • Aluminum components cut weight in transit rolling stock

Read the latest from our CEO, Dr. Henric Adey

As we close out Q2 2026 here at PIAD Precision Casting, I’m incredibly proud of the momentum the PIAD team has built—and the way we’ve shown up for each other during a period of real industry change.

This quarter reminded us that adaptability isn’t just a capability; it’s a competitive advantage. Our commercial pipeline is stronger than ever, customer confidence is rising, and we’re seeing new opportunities emerge as the market shifts. When major disruptions hit our industry, customers looked for stability—and they turned to PIAD. That trust is earned, not given, and it speaks to the integrity and consistency of our people.

We’re also preparing for a major milestone: the start and completion of our long‑planned building project to optimally use our production capacity. By year‑end, we’ll have a facility that expands our capacity, strengthens our infrastructure, and positions us for sustainable growth well into 2027 and beyond.

But growth only matters if we do it the right way. At PIAD, our values guide every decision:

One Team — Collaboration across engineering, production, quality, and shipping is how we win.

Committed and Accountable to Quality — Volume means nothing without excellence.

Just Culture — We create an environment where people can speak up, learn, and improve without fear.

The months ahead will be busy, but they will also be defining. We have a real opportunity to strengthen our market position and demonstrate what makes PIAD different.

Proud of the PIAD TEAM. Proud of our progress. And excited for what’s ahead. Together, we will meet this moment.
